BFAS believes that virtual reality (VR) takes viewing models to a whole new level. Thanks to immersion, one of the key aspects of VR, users are absorbed into the virtual environment. The concept of immersion can be described as a technology to deliver an illusion of reality to the senses of a human. The goal of immersion is to achieve presence, a sense of actually being in the virtual environment. So immersion in the virtual environment makes it possible to design as if one is standing at eye level, since we experience the city at eye level and not from a bird’s eye view (unless we enter a skyscraper or a helicopter). So therefore this offers a useful new perspective whilst designing. The experience of this perspective through a convincing 3D environment in VR is important, because this experience will be very different from a still taken from eye level. While standing and walking through the design at eye level there are no limitations caused by a frame or a set time; the design can be fully explored without limits and is very dynamic.
